I’m sure you know very well that exercise is good for you. It’s benefits are numerous, from health to mood to sleep quality, etc.
However, can you get too much of a good thing?
If you notice a drop in your workout performance, you could be overworking your body. This is often one of the earliest signs of overload. It’s your body telling you to rest up and recover. Altered performance levels are often more obvious if you do endurance activities such as running, cycling, etc.
When your body is overstressed physically, it’s common to get mood swings, depression, anger, confusion and irritability. You might think that this only happens when you’re emotionally stressed. However the same stress hormones are released when you’re physically overloaded.
When you overwork physically, naturally you’ll be putting more stress on your heart. And thus your heart has to work a lot harder. If you experience substantial fluctuation in your resting heart rate or blood pressure, it could be a sign that your body needs more rest. Some observational research also suggests chronic endurance exercise can contribute to irregular heart rates.
Being in a state of physical overload often disrupts your sleep pattern. So instead of getting that much needed rest, you end up becoming restless, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.
Dramatic fluctuations in appetite and weight could mean that your body is chronically overexerted. A decrease in appetite can occur in your middle to later stages of overtraining. Typically you’d also experience feelings of fatigue and lack of motivation. This happens because your body is slowing down bodily processes like metabolism. This reducing the workload on your body.
Too much can lead to a weakened immune system, inflammation and outright injury. So if you find that you’re more prone to fall sick or to get injured, it’s your body telling you to give yourself a much needed break. Nurture your body and give it time to recover. Prolonged overtraining can take weeks, even months, to recover from, and can put your health at risk.
Immunocal is what’s referred to as a “perfect” protein. What this means is that it contains all the essential amino acids needed by you and I.
Along a similar vein, Immunocal has the highest BV (Biological Value) of any edible protein. The BV is a reflection of how important a protein is for your minute-to-minute metabolism.
Finally, Immunocal contains BCAA’s (branch-chained amino acids). These BCAA’s which include leucine, isoleucine and valine are highly sought-after amino acids in the realm of muscular performance and muscle mass.
A major aspect of exercise and muscle physiology is the potential damage that takes place when your body is burning up fuel and oxygen. Using up energy produces free radicals and these free radicals can damage your cells and their components and leaving you tired and sore.
Immunocal contains bonded cysteine, which acts as a glutathione precursor, (known as the “master antioxidant”). This helps your body neutralise free radicals.
Glutathione also improves your body’s efficiency of using oxygen. This of course translates to better exercise tolerance, less muscular injury, quicker recovery, more energy and greater potential for an increase in muscle mass and strength!
After Immunocal was developed by Dr Bounous and his team, for several years, reports from the field indicated improved physical performance when taking Immunocal. This evidence was based on testimonies and anecdotal evidence.
Thereafter, they decided to conduct a randomised clinical trial. At McGill University, young fit adults were recruited either to take Immunocal or a placebo and then underwent a similar exercise program for the summer. At the end of the summer, the groups compared differences in muscle strength and endurance. The Immunocal group showed a remarkable advantage of over 13%!
“There are many myths and mysteries about raising glutathione…
Let me be clear – Immunocal is the only natural patented protein proven to raise and sustain glutathione levels and help the immune system.”
